Position Overview:

The Project Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of multiple engineering projects while ensuring the efficient execution of accounting and reporting procedures. This individual will be responsible for monitoring project budgets, preparing financial forecasts, overseeing billing, and providing leadership on financial matters related to project planning and execution. The role requires a blend of accounting expertise and project management capabilities to ensure the seamless financial operation of various engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee financial management for multiple projects, including variance analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking and timely project billing.
  • Manage project life cycle accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with company policies and client contracts.
  • Prepare financial reports on project performance, highlighting variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Lead project cost management, including tracking expenses, reviewing change, task, and purchase orders, and coordinating invoicing.
  • Facilitate communication between finance, operations, and project management teams to optimize project outcomes.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial controls and project efficiencies.
  • Ensure timely closing of project accounts and manage the financial aspects of project lifecycles.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and written, online and in-person, to a variety of professional audiences – especially in the Geotechnical Engineering/Civil Engineering space

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in project accounting or financial management, preferably within engineering or construction.
  • Strong understanding of financial analysis, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Experience with project management software and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
  • Experience with Monday.com and NetSuite
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with engineering or construction industries.
  • Experience working on multi-location, multi-phase projects.
