Sky High Solar Project

Tully, New York

Project Information

ANS Geo staff planned and completed a geotechnical field investigation in support of the proposed Sky High Solar project located in Tully, New York. To guide the design and construction of the proposed solar facility, ANS Geo developed and implemented a geotechnical investigation program which encompassed a desktop study of local geologic conditions, test pits, field electrical resistivity testing, pile load testing, and corrosion testing.

ANS Geo advanced 12 test pits (TP-1 through TP-12) spread across the array area. As part of the field investigation program, ANS Geo performed field Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) testing.

ANS Geo also conducted pile load testing of W6x9 steel sections at five (5) locations across the proposed solar array area(s). Each test location included two (2) “paired” W6x9 sections (“piles”) installed approximately 10 feet apart, totaling 10 piles installed and tested.

Test piles were installed to varying depths between 7.4 and 8 feet below ground surface (BGS) via direct push to significant resistance, then driven to their targeted depths. The load testing program was overseen and logged by an ANS Geo geotechnical representative under the direction of a Professional Engineer licensed in the State of New York.
